Moving by rooms

The room-based prices (e.g., 1-bedroom apartment = 12 m³ = €1,350) are estimates only. Actual volume depends on furniture, boxes, and packing density. Use these numbers as a quick initial guide, but for a binding quote we measure or calculate the total volume/weight. The m³ values shown are based on standard furniture sizes – if you have especially bulky or heavy items, the chargeable metric may be weight or LDM instead.

Individual items

Each individual item listed (e.g., a double bed, sofa, washing machine) costs a flat €843 when shipped alone – this covers up to the item’s typical volume/weight within the minimum charge. If you are moving multiple items, it is much more cost-effective to ship them together as a grouped shipment. The combined volume/weight will likely fall into a higher tier that is still cheaper than paying €843 per item. For example, moving a sofa (€843 alone) plus a refrigerator (€843 alone) would cost €1,686 separately, but together they might fit in 5 m³ (€843) or 10 m³ (€1,125) – saving you money.

Barcelona and London both have specific pickup/drop-off realities. In Barcelona, old-town areas like Ciutat Vella, El Born, and Gràcia have narrow streets, tight corners, and often no truck access. If your building is in a pedestrianized or restricted-traffic zone, we must arrange an accessible loading point and use trolleys. The city also applies ZBE low-emission zone restrictions, so the vehicle must have the right environmental label. In London, many streets require parking/loading permits. Congestion Charge and ULEZ zones affect the route and cost. You may need to book a parking bay with the local council ahead of time. In both cities, check if the pickup/delivery address has a lift; if only stairs, measure the staircase and stair width. In shared buildings, book the lift for the hour of loading/unloading. If the truck cannot stop directly outside, plan a reasonable hand-carry distance. Always confirm access details before moving day so the driver can avoid fines and delays. For both cities, the final street and entrance access should be checked on Street View or by a local contact.

Seasonality and planning

Moves are usually more frequent from June to September, especially at the end of the month. Prices tend to be higher then because capacity is tight. If your dates are flexible, the best time is mid-month from October to February, excluding December holidays. Demand is lower on weekdays than on weekends. In both Barcelona and London, the last week of the month is the busiest due to rental contracts; if you can move a few days before or after, you will get more options and often a lower rate. Insurance

By law/CMR convention, the haulier's liability is limited and may not cover the full replacement value of your goods. The extra insurance is cheap compared to the risk. If you pack yourself, poor packing may void coverage, so use proper boxes and wrapping.

Groupage or full moving service

Groupage cargo is best when you have only a few cubic metres, e.g. boxes, a bicycle, furniture pieces. Your goods share the truck with other shipments, so the price is lower and the schedule is less direct. Use this service if you can handle packing/unpacking and are flexible with dates. Full moving service is better when you move an entire apartment or house. With by-room tariffs, the price usually includes a dedicated or consolidated route for your whole inventory, plus helpers, trolleys, and more attention to heavy furniture and appliances. If the total volume is above 15–20 m³, a dedicated vehicle often makes sense. For a 22 m³ 2-bedroom apartment, a full move is easier and more predictable. For a single box or a few items, choose groupage to avoid paying for space you don't use.

Customs and packing

Since the UK is no longer part of the EU, all shipments from Barcelona to London require customs clearance. We assist with documentation, but customs broker fees and any duties or VAT are not included in the listed prices. For packing, we recommend using sturdy moving boxes (double-walled), wrapping furniture in bubble wrap and moving blankets, and clearly labeling each box with contents and destination room.
